Instagram Puts A Stop To Those Bots

We've all been on Instagram and have seen those accounts that LITERALLY have 69.6k followers and 14 posts. We normally end up scratching our heads in awe. But up until recently we never knew why. There is a market of apps that you basically pay for and the apps go onto Instagram and "like" or "follow" accounts based on specific areas that you indicate when you first sign up.
Liking and commenting on other images is a popular way to both attempt to gain new followers and drive up interaction on Instagram. It automatically liked and commented on photos across the platform in hopes of doing just that. For users of the platform, those apps are a convenient way of marketing on Instagram without actually putting in the time required to like and comment on individual posts. For actual human Instagrammers, the bots led to faked generic comments on their posts. Instagram shared plans for eliminating fake accounts back in 2014, but a year later, one research report suggested that as many as eight percent of accounts were run by bots. That same year, new spam filters and the deletion of 18 million suspected fake accounts made buying Instagram followers a bit harder.
So we did a test run on one of our accounts that we managed. And we LITERALLY paid $19.99 for the "fast package." The account started out in October at 819 followers and by January they were up to 13K. First things first, we were impressed. But, the amount of followers vs the amount of comments, likes, etc...just didnt balance out. Later on other followers started commenting that the account was "buying followers." So we decided to end that.
However, for those who are on IG just for followers and likes, these types of programs are worth it. But with the direction IG is headed in, they wont be around for long. They are starting to crack down on these accounts because its taking away from the authenticity of the user experience.
